Determined by its ability to chemoattract rat peripheral macrophages using a concentration range of 50-100 ng/ml.

Reconstitute in H₂O to a concentration of 0.1-1 mg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers or stored at 4°C for 1 week or –20°C for future use.

Rats are used to make rat monoclonal anti mouse antibodies. There are less rat- than mouse clones however. Rats genes from rodents of the genus Rattus norvegicus are often studied in vivo as a model of human genes in Sprague-Dawley or Wistar rats.
